About Consulting Forester Directory

Private landowners own over 80% of forestland across the eastern and southern United States. Yet when it comes time to harvest timber or manage property, landowners are often at a massive informational disadvantage against commercial sawmills and timber procurement companies.

Our Fiduciary Charter

Consulting Forester Directory was created with one strict rule: we only index independent consulting foresters who work exclusively for the landowner.

Unlike generic business directories that lump timber procurement agents, logging contractors, and consulting foresters into a single directory, we audit and exclude commercial buyers who have economic interests in wood-using mills or timber procurement under Virginia Code § 10.1-1181.10. Our listed consultants meet statutory title criteria under Va. Code § 10.1-1181.9 and § 10.1-1181.12. Landowner representation is governed by fiduciary agency contracts and professional codes of ethics.

Data Transparency

Every listing in our directory is verified against official state forestry agency registries, including the Virginia Department of Forestry (VDOF), the Society of American Foresters (SAF) Certified Forester registry, and the Association of Consulting Foresters (ACF). We distinguish statutory state listings from board-certified credentials and voluntary professional memberships.
